Insurance coverage that you need to consider:
General and Professional Liability Insurance – Primarily provides coverage for bodily injury to children attending your child care program. In addition insurance is extended for your professional services and liability related to your premises. Note that it is difficult to secure coverage for swimming pools and dog exposures contact us for more a detailed discussion.
Workers Compensation Insurance - Have employees? Then you require workers compensation insurance. Coverage is also required of all corporations. In addition, sole proprietors, partners and LLC members without employees are eligible to purchase coverage.
Property Insurance – Coverage, such as theft, fire, vandalism for your business property.
Employment Practice Liability Insurance – Coverage that provides protection if you are sued by an employee for such things as wrongful termination, harassment or discrimination.
Pollution Liability Insurance – It’s important to understand the pollution including air born pollution flowing through your home heating systems is excluded from child care general liability insurance policies. Let’s discuss this issue as it’s a bit complicated but worthy of discussion contact us.
A word about Homeowners Insurance:
Some home insurers will not provide protection if a child care center is operated out of the home; others will only provide coverage if you have general liability insurance coverage in effect.
